Corylus americana

Our native hazelnut! Produces a little nut that wildlife love. You’ll find them delicious, too, if you have the patience to crack its thick shells for the rather small nuts. Fall color is a soft orange. A single shrub will produce nuts, but yields are highest when 3 or more shrubs are planted. Sends out suckers.
